Celebration Worship

On Friday 2nd December our friend Peace Proscovia from Uganda visited the school to have lunch and talk to the children about what Christmas is like in her home village. As part of the RE topic this term the children are investigating what a Christian Christmas looks like in different places. They asked topical questions and were surprised to find that in the village where Peace lives the giving of livestock was the preferred present.Christmas Dinner would be prepared in one household and the whole village would attend sharing meats, sweet potatoes, fruit and wash it down with a glass of soda.

Peace then went onto visit St Giles Church to witness the decorating of the Christmas trees in preparation for the festival due to open the following day.

She returned later that afternoon and along with Mrs Liz Broomhead MBE,  Peace presented three children with their Level 2 Bikeability certificates, which they had passed the week before. This was part of our Celebration Worship, which parents, governors and local residents joined to listen to the children share good work,  sing songs and reflect on the weeks events. This culminated in the giving out of house points before the announcement of the winning house “Grey Wolves” was identified.
