KS2 Tamworth Castle visit

The KS2 class had an amazing day at Tamworth Castle on Tuesday 24th February! We truly stepped back in time to the age of Saxons and Vikings.
Our adventure included:
  • Warrior Training: We learned all about Saxon and Viking soldiers, comparing their fierce weapons and battle gear. We even got to dress up as warriors ourselves and handle authentic-feeling equipment to see how heavy it really was.
  • Castle Exploration: During our self-led tour, we explored the historic rooms and braved the climb all the way to the top of the tower. From there, we had amazing 360-degree views of the town and the Castle Grounds.
  • Archaeology Workshop: After a quick lunch break, we turned into trainee archaeologists. We learned how to identify ancient artefacts and even had a go at “digging” for finds in sample boxes to see what the Saxons and Vikings left behind.
It was a brilliant day of hands-on history—we definitely felt like real invaders by the time we left!
