The KS2 class had an amazing day at Tamworth Castle on Tuesday 24th February! We truly stepped back in time to the age of Saxons and Vikings.
Our adventure included:
- Warrior Training: We learned all about Saxon and Viking soldiers, comparing their fierce weapons and battle gear. We even got to dress up as warriors ourselves and handle authentic-feeling equipment to see how heavy it really was.
- Castle Exploration: During our self-led tour, we explored the historic rooms and braved the climb all the way to the top of the tower. From there, we had amazing 360-degree views of the town and the Castle Grounds.
-
Archaeology Workshop: After a quick lunch break, we turned into trainee archaeologists. We learned how to identify ancient artefacts and even had a go at “digging” for finds in sample boxes to see what the Saxons and Vikings left behind.
It was a brilliant day of hands-on history—we definitely felt like real invaders by the time we left!
