On Tuesday 3rd of June 2025 we were very lucky at craft club to have two members from the community, Jo Woolley and Phillip Neal, come to visit us to make bird and bat boxes. Phillip explained to me that the community had received a grant from the Derbyshire Wildlife Trust which had enabled the purchase of the kits to build the bird and bat boxes. These are being placed around the village in the wildflower areas, to encourage the local wildlife to prosper and flourish.
There was much enthusiastic hammering taking place to construct the boxes, and I’m pleased to say no injuries were reported! The children appeared to thoroughly enjoy the opportunity to become involved in this community project and we look forward to seeing the boxes up around our school area and in the village.
