During the previous academic year, the children in class 1 were very excited to meet local author Linda Woodruff who has written stories about two best friends called Albert and Finn. The children loved hearing about these two mischievous characters and how Linda had created them and their adventures within her imagination.
Creative writing is part of the literacy curriculum, and this proved to be a super way for the children to develop their own understanding of how to create a character and plot. This term, building on this previous experience, the children have written their own short stories, developing their ability to create characters, an exciting plot line, illustrate the content and edit the text, before publishing their completed stories.
Today they demonstrated how each one of them were now an author as they all eagerly read their books to Linda, to rapturous applause and praise. Memories for these children have been created today, and their books have been taken home to share with their families and perhaps even future generations to come!
