Quidditch!

Class 1

On Wednesday 17th of June 2026 magic came to Hartington!

P.E. was a little bit different today, with the children playing Quidditch! They was some precision throwing into the Quidditch nets, with the nets getting higher as the accuracy improved! The key stage one children were then split into two teams who competed to get the ball through the Quidditch nets, with both teams winning a game.

It was then time for the broomsticks! Luckily, they weren’t switched on so no children flew away. Instead they practiced their broomstick steering skills, travelling around the cones, being careful not to crash!

All the children loved it! “It was hard to get the ball in the net but the broomsticks were good.”

“My favourite part was throwing the ball into the net and then the net got higher.”

“It was fun riding on the broomsticks!”

Class 2
Adapting the wizarding sport for Physical Education, the KS2 Quidditch session engaged the children in an energetic, fast-paced invasion game. The children were sorted into teams to play specialized positions, combining elements of handball, dodge-ball, and rugby as they passed the Quaffle through hoops, defended with lightweight brooms, and chased the Snitch.
The imaginative twist successfully brought the Wizarding World to life, allowing children to practice throwing, dodging, and spatial awareness.  Because the game naturally levels the playing field by blending different athletic skills, it encouraged 100% participation and teamwork across the class, even reaching pupils who aren’t typically keen on traditional sports.
