Class 1
Space and Materials.
Class 1 built rockets which blasted off from a launch pad using paper cups and elastic bands.
We then had the challenge of building a landing pad for a Lego man to land on the moon safely without tipping out of his pod. We looked at which materials were bouncy and would help absorb an impact. We built paper springs to act as shock absorbers and then dropped him from different heights to see if our construction would keep him safe!
Class 2
Class 2 began by investigating static electricity. We cut out small people from tissue paper and attached their toes to the table. Using plastic rulers and balloons we created static electricity and made our paper people dance without touching them!
Next, we looked at how chemical reactions can produce a gas which can be used to power a small rocket.
We used vinegar and bicarbonate of soda to make a film canister blast up into the air!
