Easter Service 2026

Our annual Easter Service in church took place on Tuesday 24th March in the afternoon with parents and relatives joining to listen to the children share the Easter story and what they have learnt this half term in RE.

We recounted the stations of the cross and told of all the events that led up to the crucifixion and the wondrous resurrection we will be celebrating on Easter Sunday.

The children spoke of learning about Saint Francis Xavier who is the patron saint of foreign missions and missionaries.  Saint Xavier shared his gift of lover for God with people from other countries and this inspired our pupils to think about the gifts that they have to offer to their friends, family, community and the whole world. Below are some of the gifts they share:

  • My gift to the world is being good at drawing pictures. I can share it with others by teaching people how to draw.
  • My gift is drawing and I can share it by giving tips to younger people and other people who want help and advice.
  • My gift is being good at dancing. I can share my gift by giving tips and recommendations to others.
  • My gift is being good at cooking. I can share it by teaching people how to cook and by cooking delicious meals for them.
  • My gift is patience and perseverance, because I don’t give up easily. I can share my gift by teaching others how to be resilient.
  • My gift to the world is farming. I work on a farm every day. I can share my gift by teaching people at Young Farmers about farming.
  • My gift is being good at playing football. I can share my gift by training people to get better at football.
  • My gift to the world is kindness. I can show kindness by inviting people to play games with more respect.
  • My gift is kindness. I’m going to spread kindness and respect and show people how to have good manners.
  • I am good at design and technology and art. I will teach people how to make things and how to draw.
  • My gift is being good at design and technology. I can spread my gift by sharing things that I have made with my friends and family.
  • My gift is perseverance, as I am determined to never give up. I can share my gift by teaching other people how to get better at not giving up.
  • My gift is being good at farming. I can learn how to milk the cows. I can share my gift by working hard to continue collecting milk for our cups of tea.
  • I am good at playing rugby. I can share my gift by teaching other people rugby skills.
  • My gift is being good at scootering. I can share my gift by giving people tips on how to get better at riding a scooter.

The children in Year 1 and Reception used their learning about Spring to write some Spring prayers.

Dear God,

Thank you for the daffodils because the bees drink the nectar.

Thank you for the lambs in the fields.

Thank you for buds on the trees that will grow into new leaves.

Thank you for the Easter eggs because they remind us about new life when Jesus came back to life.

Thank you for the hedgehogs waking up.

Amen
