This morning the children visited Biggin C of E Primary school for School’s Together. Today’s theme was ‘Good Fruit’. The children have been exploring the ideas that Christians believe that God created everything, and that He made fruit for people to eat. Christians believe that this is one of the ways God provides for people and that He does this because He loves them.
The children took part in a range of activities, thinking about God’s natural world. They made 3D fruit to write prayers of thanks on and iced apple shaped biscuits that they then enjoyed as a snack.
Leaf rubbings were used to decorate the words of Genesis 1:29 – ‘I give you… every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.’
All the children present joined in with the hymn ‘All things bright and beautiful’ and reflected upon how the words of this song are linked to the story of creation.
‘Dear God
All good gifts around us are sent from heaven above; Then thank the Lord, O thank the Lord for all His love.
We thank you God for all the good things you give us. Thank you for the beautiful autumn leaves and colour. Thank you for the ripe fruit and good food. But most of all, thank you for loving us.
Amen.’
