Willow Weaving

Today we have been very lucky to have the chance to begin creating a willow church. All the children have been supported by parent Joelle Woolley, who is a willow specialist. The children have learnt about the process of soaking the willow to make it more pliable and have begun to weave the sections of the church from scratch.

The children were able to curl the willow to make it easier to weave and took it in turns to all have a go at different parts of the process.

As the day went on the church began to take shape, with the different panels showing the shape of the church. It was then up to Joelle to attach this to the fence in the playground, as a part of our ongoing willow display in the playground.
