School’s together – ‘Precious and Loved by God’

On Friday 14th of March 2025 we went to St. Giles’ Church in Hartington for School’s together. The focus this term was ‘Precious and loved by God’.

The theme and key ideas were that Christians believe that God created everything including people. Christian’s believe that God loves people like a good Father loves his children. Christians believe that God cares for His creation – He provides what small birds need and knows when one dies. Christians believe that God values people much more than the small birds He knows and cares for so much.

The children were involved in opening prayers and took part in the dramatised re-telling of Mark 10:13-16 ‘Let the children come to me.’

The activity zones included:

· Prayers of Love (these have been displayed on the reflection area in the hall at school) ‘Thank you God that you love me’

· Mirror prayers – ‘Look in the mirror. What do you see?’

· Colour zone “Let the children come to me.”

· Craft zone – paper plate faces. “God even knows how many hairs are on your head.”

· Book and word zone – Read the story again in one of the Bibles.

The children showed enjoyment in each of these areas and joined in well with prayers and songs. Everyone enjoyed one of Katie Kitchen’s fabulous blue bird biscuits to round off the morning.

Dear Father God, you made us all

And every creature, great and small,

Is fed by you and in your care,

Because your love is everywhere.

May we know your love, Lord Jesus,

Put love into our hearts –

Love for you;

Love for ourselves;

And love for those around us.

Go with us Father, throughout this day.

Be with us in our school work and in our play;

May all that we say and all that we do,

Be kind and pleasing to you.

Amen.
