Dove Valley Centre

On Tuesday 11th July the whole school visited the Dove Valley Centre at Under Whittle Farm along with the Peak National Rangers. Sadly the weather was not to good and this did not ‘Dampen’ the adults or children’s enjoyment of the day. Linked to the geography and science curriculum they continued to learn about the different species of trees and it was with great excitement they learned how to measure the height of some of the taller trees by measuring the distance between themselves and when the top of the tree came into their eye line. Another favorite was pond dipping where they found newts and a multitude of insects. On their arrival the children were met by the local ‘Quack’ who taught them about natures remedies and who was initially met at the museum at Eyam as part of the History and Geography topics. It was a little bit of a shock for some and quite scary for others!

Thank you again to Rose and her Park Rangers and a special thank you to Elspeth for inviting us into her home. Everyone had a brilliant day.
