Coronation

The official Coronation of King Charles lll  took place on Saturday 6th May, but the un-official one was  held by the duck pond within our local community on the Village Green.  Under the direction of Mrs Liz Broomhead MBE (Community Liaison Officer) we undertook the ‘mock crowning’ of our very own King and Queen, following many rehearsals in the school yard..

The crowns, sceptre and orbe were all expertly designed and created by Mrs Jo Woolley who enjoys the craft of  willow weaving. I am sure Charles and Camilla would have been honored to wear them, they received many complimentary comments from all who attended. They were amazing!

All the children took part in this momentous event in history and I am sure it will become an everlasting memory for each and everyone of them. The coronation was flawless and was matched by the beautiful weather and the spectators that came out to watch. It was wonderful for the children in their coronation procession to be welcomed onto the Village Green by cheering and waving of Union Jack flags.

The ceremony was followed by the raising of glasses for a toast to the our new king. As part of the celebration each child was invited to design a coronation cake, which was to be judged by the current school catering officer Mrs Katie White, then the winning cake design was baked and shared between the children,  parents, governors, staff and school helpers.
