Remembrance Day

As part of our Remembrance day learning we took part in a live online assembly this morning, delivered by the Blue Cross, where we learnt about animals during World War 1. The session covered the stories and roles of animals in the war effort, such as horses, dogs and pigeons, and the support that Blue Cross provided to them.

The children were all engaged in the delivery and enjoyed testing their knowledge through the questions that were asked.

At 11 am we all went to the village War Memorial to observe a 2 minute silence, where we had the opportunity to think about and reflect on those who have fought in all wars for our countries freedom. https://www.bluecross.org.uk/warhorse – this link is where you can find more information about the work of animals and The Blue Cross in World War 1.

Remembrance and the sacrifice the soldiers gave also helps us to focus on this terms Christian value of Service. The service the soldiers and animals gave for our futures is what we are remembering today.
