Class 2 pupils have undertaken five weeks of music lessons with Rachel Wilkes from Music Partnership. The sessions culminated in a musical performance using voices and playing musical instruments. The lessons were based around the composer John Adams and a piece of music called ‘Short Ride in a Fast Machine’ which was inspired by a ride Adams took in his brother’s new sports car!
During the sessions the pupils listened to orchestral music, invented their own musical motifs, performed an ensemble and learned musical language appropriate to the tasks.
Over the next five weeks Rachel Wilkes will be working with class 1 prior to the whole school working with Rachel in preparation for a musical performance at the end of the school year.
