During this half term the children in KS2 have been learning about sounds in science.\u00a0 The highlight of the unit was learning about pitch when we invited a local brass band player into school.\u00a0 During the afternoon we were given a demonstration of how the three instruments (a cornet, trombone and a tenor horn) sounded and how they each differed in pitch.\u00a0 The children all enjoyed blowing the instruments and using the valves to change the pitch of the notes.\u00a0 Great fun was had making a variety of sounds and learning about why the three instruments sounded different.\u00a0 The afternoon culminated in a fun activity making straw oboes and seeing who could make the highest and lowest pitch.<\/h4>\n
