This morning, our KS2 students became budding engineers as they took on the challenge of building their very own buzz wire games. The classroom was full of focus and excitement as the children applied their knowledge of electrical circuits to create these steady-hand mazes. By carefully connecting batteries, buzzers, and copper wire, they learned first-hand how a closed circuit triggers a reaction\u2014in this case, a loud buzz the moment the loop touches the wire! It was a fantastic way for the children to develop their problem-solving skills and fine motor control, turning complex scientific concepts into a fun, interactive game they could test with their peers.<\/p>\n

KS1 had the challenge of creating a classroom laser maze after which they competed against each other to see if that could navigate it without being caught!<\/p>\n

In the afternoon Class 1 followed a \u201cHands & Feet\u201d maze trail and then made a cardboard egg and spoon maze! Great fun had by all!<\/p>\n

During Lego stem part, KS2 children\u00a0tackled the challenge of engineering a Great Ball Contraption (GBC). Working in pairs, they designed and built complex modules, incorporating motors and colour sensors to create automated mechanisms that moved balls from one point to another. After testing and debugging their code and structures to ensure reliability, the teams collaborated to join their individual modules together, creating a seamless, interactive machine that demonstrated teamwork and advanced engineering principles.<\/p>\n
