The children entered school on Monday morning eagerly awaiting the arrival of the bus whilst carrying their backpacks with their lunch and snacks. It wasn\u2019t long before the children of class 1 were on their way to Sudbury Children\u2019s Museum which was to be used as the \u2018Springboard\u2019 into the Key Stage 1 Toy History topic.<\/p>\n

Following a brief journey, we were met by Katie who led us to into the museum and to the wonders within its walls. The children were fully immersed and engaged in the artefacts they explored, whilst learning about how they could determine their ages before placing them onto the timeline.<\/p>\n

This initial activity was followed by the children being led by Katie into a range of rooms displaying toys from different eras. It was lovely hearing children saying, \u2018my granny had a doll like that\u2019 or I had a rocking horse when I was little but it wasn\u2019t as big as that! One of the children was particularly proud when he found the toy which was more than 400 years old and then was very surprised when he found that it was a ball made from glass and it hadn\u2019t been broken or chipped!<\/p>\n

What an amazing place this is and a superb way to introduce this history topic. Everyone had a wonderful day which was concluded by visiting the small shop and playing on the apparatus in the outdoor playground.<\/p>\n

Thank you to our PTA for raising the funds which have enabled the children to participate in this opportunity which helps to enrich our curriculum and make it \u2018COME ALIVE!\u2019<\/p>\n
