On Thursday 10th<\/sup> July, Class 2 visited the village hall for a very special event – The Mock Classroom. The event was organised by Mrs Broomhead to commemorate the Village Hall\u2019s centenary.<\/p>\n

The children and community members took part in a 1950’s math lesson in which they explored the 8 times – table. They used sea shells as counters to solve multiplication and division problems. This was followed by modern day lesson that started off with times tables ping pong, where the children and adults counted in multiples of 8, 80, 800 and 0.8. Later, during the lesson, the children and the adults were asked to represent the calculation 4 x 8 in as many ways as they could. The children did extremely well helping the adults with arrays and bar models which the adults were not familiar with. After the two lessons, everyone enjoyed some delicious biscuits made by Katie kitchen.<\/p>\n

We finished the event by discussing similarities and differences between the two lessons and the changes in the math curriculum over the years. All of the children behaved exceptionally well demonstrating good manners and respect. Thank you, Mrs Broomhead for organising the event! We have all thoroughly enjoyed it!<\/p>\n
