Explore together: Fearfully and wonderfully made<\/strong><\/p>\n

Today we all went to Biggin school for our schools together event. The focus of todays gathering was the Christian belief that God created everything, including people. The Bible teaches that people (we) are made in God\u2019s image, are wonderfully made, and are God\u2019s masterpiece.<\/p>\n

In Old Testament Genesis 1:26-28, the Bible says,<\/p>\n

Then God said, \u201cLet us make human beings in our image and likeness. And let them rule over the fish in the sea and birds in the sky. Let them rule over the tame animals, all over the earth and over all the small crawling animals on the earth.\u201d<\/p>\n

So, God created human beings in His image. In the image of God, He created them. He created them male and female. God blessed them and said, \u201cHave many children and grow in number. Fill the earth and be its master. Rule over the fish in the sea and over the birds in the sky. Rule over every living thing that moves on the earth.\u201d<\/p>\n

The children were able to explore the ways our bodies, and the world around us, are wonderful. Activities included:<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Creating a picture of ourselves, using Psalm 139:14 \u2013 \u2018I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.\u2019 And including a prayer. This helped the children to think about what they are good at? What are your talents? Some of the prayers included thanking God for specific talents and the ability to share.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Prayer bookmarks, using Psalm 139:13 \u2013 \u2018You created every part of me.\u2019 The children used an ink pad to put their fingerprint on the bookmark, observing that everyone\u2019s fingerprint is different. Prayers included, \u2018Thank you for everyone.\u2019, \u2018I am special because I am kind.\u2019 \u2018Thank you for making me.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Scavenger hunt \u2013 God created nature. The children were able to explore the school grounds and find natural objects on the scavenger hunt list. They enjoyed referring to their previous learning of the creation story and the natural world.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Parachute games \u2013 \u2018I am wonderfully made, this is what I can do with my body.\u2019<\/p>\n

The morning concluded with a biscuit, in the shape of a person to continue celebrating us, made for us by Katie Kitchen. We then practiced the verse from Psalm 139:13 \u2018You created every part of me; you put me together in my mother\u2019s body (womb).\u2019<\/p>\n

Dear God,<\/p>\n

Thank you for our lives, for making us in Your image. Thank you that we are wonderfully made. Please help us live the way that You have called us to live and do the things You made us to do.<\/p>\n
